The Irreplaceable Value of Family
I grew up in a joint family in Nepal, surrounded by grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Living together taught me firsthand how deeply important family bonds are. The warmth, the shared stories, and the sense of belonging formed the bedrock of who I am.
Over the years, as opportunities and careers called, several of my relatives migrated to faraway countries—the United States, Australia, the UK, Canada, and beyond. Their children were born and raised abroad. While they built wonderful lives, a quiet gap opened: the younger generations began losing connection with their family back home, their roots, and their ancestral origin.
Untangling Names, Relations, and Origins
Whenever our extended family gathered for weddings, festivals, or rituals, I always found myself struggling with the sheer number of relatives. What exact relation was this elder to my grandfather? What was our ancestral village (Moolghar)? What was our Gotra?
Much of this precious knowledge existed only in the memories of our aging elders. If it wasn't recorded properly, it would quietly disappear. I built this software to record and organize my own family tree and history. It brought clarity and deep appreciation to my entire family, and I realized that countless other families across the globe face the exact same challenge.
Why We Chose "Soil" (माटो) as Our Identity
In our heritage, soil (माटो) represents the ground that nurtured us—our ancestral homeland, the courtyard of our roots, and the memory of those who walked before us. No matter how high a tree grows or how far its branches stretch across oceans, its strength always comes from the soil holding its roots.
We deliberately built the design system of मेरो Family around warm soil, clay, and terracotta tones so that every time you look at your family tree, it feels grounded, warm, and deeply authentic.

मेरो Family is not a commercial enterprise or a venture-backed startup. It was created out of genuine respect for family heritage. You don't have to create an account, pay a fee, or upload your private family data to remote cloud servers.
